  • Sydney based. Full time, permanent Hybrid role. c$260k package
Role

A rare in-house opportunity to contribute to business-critical legal work at an organisation at the forefront of efforts to combat fraud and scams. As a Senior Regulatory and Privacy Lawyer, you'll advise across privacy, data, and regulatory matters, sitting close to the business and helping teams move forward with confidence. This role suits a pragmatic, commercially minded lawyer with a genuine interest in data and privacy law, and a solutions-first mindset.

Skills & Experience

• Advise on privacy, data protection, and regulatory compliance, translating complex obligations into clear, practical guidance.
• Partner with commercial, product, marketing, and data teams as a trusted legal advisor.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of contracts, including technology, licensing, confidentiality, and data-sharing agreements.
• Support regulated customer engagements, ensuring alignment with APRA CPS 234, PCI-DSS, SOC 2, and the Telecommunications Act.
• Advise on governance, risk management, and regulatory reporting obligations.
• Manage privacy requests, including data subject access requests and regulator inquiries.
• Improve legal operations, refining templates, standard agreements, and contracting workflows.
• Contribute to strategic and commercial projects, including IP matters and growth initiatives.
• Resolve contract disputes by interpreting rights and obligations and recommending a practical path forward.

Benefits

• Meaningful work that directly supports Australia's fight against fraud and scams.
• Real ownership over your deliverables, with genuine influence on business strategy.
• The trust to exercise judgment in grey areas and shape practical solutions.
• Authority to make sound decisions at pace, without excessive sign-off.
• A true business-enabler role, valued for moving the business forward, not gatekeeping it.
• Grow your regulatory expertise while building real commercial acumen.
• Direct access to decision makers.
• Variety and impact across the entire business.
• Flexible hybrid working and a culture that respects boundaries.
• Smart, approachable, non-hierarchical colleagues.

How to apply

We’re looking for someone who can operate confidently in grey areas, make sound decisions at pace, and stay focused on enabling the business. This role suits a proactive thinker who understands highly regulated environments and brings a commercial, business-first mindset.
