The Opportunity

In this broad Risk Analyst role, you’ll be supporting the delivery of a risk and compliance management function to manage the risks of the Corporation. The risk analyst will have the opportunity to work across all risk classes such as credit and market risk but will primarily focus on supporting the non-financial risk management. The role in conjunction with the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and Senior Risk Advisor, supports the development and delivery of a mature contemporary, integrated, efficient and effective risk management and compliance practices.
  
Tasks may include:
  • Support operational risk management, including risk assessments and monitoring.
  • Support the maintenance of risk management policies and reporting capabilities.
  • Support the team in its analysis of issues, root cause identification, and in undertaking control enhancements.
  • Support strategic initiatives and collaborate across teams and relevant stakeholders.
  • Undertaking research into areas of emerging risk and to support Risk Management’s periodic deep dives in areas of non-financial risk and monthly reporting;
  • Assist in the management of credit risk loan applications including monitoring and assessment of credit for government agencies and corporations.
  • To aid the management of market risk, ensure that the Treasury Management System (Quantum) has accurate rates, which are used to daily price and value all assets and liabilities on the balance sheet.
  
About You

Seeking a positive and approachable person who enjoys working collaboratively and is passionate about risk management.  Your ability to adapt to change and positive mindset will be key to your success in this role
The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker who can demonstrate a combination of the following skills, qualifications and experience:
  • A tertiary qualification in finance, commerce, business, economics, mathematics or similar discipline 
  • 1-2+ years’ experience in risk management (Ideally Banking/ Financial Services, other highly regulated industries considered)
  • Sound knowledge of risk management practices, trends and current developments with an analytical mindset.
  • Strong stakeholder skills with an ability to consult and impact change positively.
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity
