Reporting into a highly regarded leadership team, you'll play a hands-on role advising clients on risk management, regulatory and compliance matters, with a strong focus on regulated financial services. You'll design and implement risk management frameworks, deliver regulatory compliance advice and governance reviews, and support clients through regulatory enforcement and investigation matters, often working as a strategic partner rather than a downstream reviewer.
You'll act as a conduit between junior team members and firm leadership, playing a genuine hands-on role in team development while starting to build your own business development and pipeline profile. Expect to work on ambiguous, novel engagements with no set template, so a problem-solving mindset and comfort operating without a playbook are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic risk and regulatory advice to tier-1 clients across banking, insurance, superannuation and asset management.
- Design and implement risk management frameworks and lead regulatory compliance advice and governance reviews.
- Support regulatory enforcement and investigation matters, working closely with legal teams and clients' General Counsel.
- Act as a conduit between junior consultants and firm leadership, playing a hands-on role in team development.
- Deliver clear, insightful written reports and recommendations to client risk teams and executives.
- Collaborate across the firm with M&A, public sector and other specialist teams on cross-disciplinary engagements.
- 6 to 8 years' consulting experience, ideally gained within a top-tier or major professional services firm. This is a genuine advisory role, so a consulting background is essential.
- Strong risk management and regulatory compliance experience within financial services. Non-financial risk, operational risk or compliance backgrounds are highly valued; financial risk experience will also be considered.
- Solid understanding of the Australian regulatory landscape, including APRA, ASIC and AUSTRAC.
- You’ll bring well-developed technical knowledge, sound judgement and strong critical thinking.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and connecting the dots without a template to follow.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to engage senior stakeholders and present clearly and persuasively in writing.
