- Hands-On Leadership Role in a Scaling, Data-Intensive Organisation
- 12-Month Fixed Term Contract (Possible Perm) – Hybrid Sydney
This is a senior governance role covering a period of parental leave within an established but evolving function. The role has broad ownership across governance, risk, compliance and privacy, with responsibility for maintaining existing frameworks, strengthening controls where needed, and supporting the business through continued growth in a complex, data-sensitive environment.
The role
You will lead governance, risk, compliance and privacy across the business, with scope across both strategy and day-to-day delivery. The role includes board and executive reporting, policy and framework oversight, and close partnership with product, data and technology teams to ensure controls are practical, effective and fit for purpose.
About you
This role will suit someone who is comfortable working at both the strategic and operational level, can step into an existing function with confidence, and knows how to maintain high standards while continuing to improve and mature the environment.
Key responsibilities
- Lead governance, risk, compliance, and privacy across the business
- Develop and maintain policies, frameworks, and controls fit for a growing organisation
- Prepare and present clear, credible reporting to the board and executive team
- Manage data handling obligations and privacy requirements in a sensitive environment
- Oversee third-party and outsourced provider risk
- Strengthen information security compliance and operational resilience
- Support financial crime compliance obligations
- Partner with product, data, and technology teams to build governance into how the business operates
- Senior experience leading governance, risk, or compliance functions at a comparable level from a technology, fintech, financial services or other regulated environment
- Strong knowledge of privacy and data handling obligations in a data-sensitive environment
- Proven ability to step into an established function, provide continuity, and strengthen what's already in place
- Confidence presenting and reporting to boards and senior stakeholders
- The ability to operate across both the strategic and operational level
- Exposure to financial crime compliance
- Experience in a high-growth or data-intensive business
- Background managing third-party or outsourced provider risk
- Familiarity with information security and operational resilience
- Own a broad governance, risk, compliance and privacy remit end to end
